Finding Fall Classes in Yonge North York

As summer winds down and we all settle back into our regular routines, it’s the perfect time to start planning for the months ahead, especially with many returning to school. Even though my school days are long behind me, September is an ideal time to map out what the fall and winter will look like. If you’re anything like me, you’re looking for new hobbies and activities to keep you engaged during the colder months. While summer is great for socializing, winter is when I dive into my hobbies and passions. This month, I have discovered some enjoyable and accessible options in the Yonge North York district for you and your family to enjoy this season.

Baking peach pies with new friends at Longo’s Cooking Classes at The Loft

Willowdale School of Music
Sarah Murley Hauser, the director of Willowdale School of Music (WSM), is dedicated to creating a music education experience that’s exciting and tailored to each student. She believes that learning music should be approachable, not daunting. “Making music lessons fun is what drives me,” she says. At WSM, students ages 4 and up can explore a range of instruments, including violin, piano, guitar, ukulele, recorder, and voice, all under the guidance of experienced teachers. What stands out to me about WSM is its commitment to inclusivity and its transparent pricing, clearly outlined on its website. It’s the perfect place for you and your children to embark on a musical journey together. Plus, new students can enjoy a 10% discount on their first 10 classes this September!

Longo’s Cooking Classes
Offering a wide variety of themed classes for both adults and kids, Longo’s Cooking Classes at The Loft are a hidden gem. It’s the perfect option for a rainy day, with no long-term commitment – simply pick the class that piques your interest and book it online. The classes are reasonably priced and even include parent-child sessions and virtual options. You’ll find unique themes like “A Culinary Journey Through the Middle East” or “PA Day: Autumn Baking,” which offer a fun camp-like experience for kids aged 6-12. I recently took a group to an interactive class where we baked pies with fresh Niagara peaches. Our instructor, Becks, was passionate, organized, and incredibly helpful. It was also great to meet other students in the class and work on our baking skills together. I’d do it again!

Toronto Dance Salsa
When you walk by the studio, you’ll see people of all ages, backgrounds, and dance levels having a blast. If you’ve ever wanted to learn salsa or bachata, Toronto Dance Salsa has been a beloved fixture in Yonge North York for years. But it’s more than just dance lessons – it’s about connecting with new people. Beyond regular classes, they offer workshops, team-building sessions, and socials that keep the energy alive. I love how they focus on creating a strong sense of community through dance, making it a fantastic way to meet people from across the city.

Located in Emerald Park, Breath Uptown Pilates & Yoga Studio is a bright and open space that offers stunning views of our BIA, right over the tree canopy. The studio’s owner and instructor, Andrea, is highly recommended, with online reviews praising her as a “caring and accommodating” professional. If you’re looking to tone your body, increase flexibility, and connect with fellow enthusiasts, this is the perfect spot. Plus, being situated right above the subway station makes it incredibly convenient.
