We’ve had a great fall so far and enjoyed many fun events that recently took place in the Yonge North York BIA, like Nuit Blanche that happened on October 4th, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. It was great to see everyone out at night, taking in the eccentric artistic displays all around our district. Now that the temperature is cooling down, I’ve got one thing on my mind–ramen.
One of my favourite comfort foods, ramen is a staple in our BIA, and I hope you get out to try one (or all!) of the amazing spots below. Whether you go out or order in, you really can’t go wrong; all locations offer delicious menus.
A classic ramen spot with locations across the city, and we’re lucky to have one right here in Yonge North York. Known for its flavourful broths and customizable bowls, Kinton offers something for everyone, from their popular Pork Original Ramen to Chicken Ramen and Vegetable Ramen options. Also order their chicken karaage, a perfectly crispy side dish that pairs beautifully with any bowl.
Midori Ramen offers more than just great ramen; it’s a full dining experience. Their chicken broth is delicate, milky, and rich in umami. Make sure to check out the appetizer flights, which feature purple yam fries, crispy tofu nuggets, and a mix of vegetarian and meat options so everyone can sample a variety of flavours. They offer many deals throughout the week, so there’s always a reason to return. Delicious ramen, shareable bites, and thoughtfully paired drinks make Midori a favourite among locals and visitors alike.
A long-time favourite in the neighbourhood, Ajisen Ramen is known for its rich, miso-based broths and wide variety of soups and toppings. It’s the perfect spot when you’re craving something hearty and satisfying. Alongside their signature ramen bowls, the fried shrimp is a must-have side–crispy, golden, and perfect for sharing (or not!).
A true gem in the area, Konjiki Ramen is celebrated for its rich, creamy broths and beautifully balanced flavours. Their ramen bowls are crafted with care, featuring high-quality ingredients and a depth of flavour that stands out. The dumplings are a must-try, and if you have room for dessert, their matcha sweets are the perfect way to finish your meal. It’s no surprise this spot has earned Michelin recognition. It’s ramen done right.
The new kid on the block and one to visit soon. Kajiken is celebrating its grand opening on November 1st, and opened its first Canadian Michelin-rated ramen in Yonge North York. The restaurant is buzzing and attracting line-ups. They offer friendly and quick service that keeps things moving even when it’s busy. They specialize in mazesoba (brothless ramen), a bold and savoury style that’s incredibly satisfying. Their menu features creative bowls topped with soft shell crab, unagi, and other unique combinations you won’t find anywhere else. I tried the soft shell crab and it was so delicious and flavourful, but I couldn’t finish the huge portion, though I tried.
As the weather cools, there’s nothing better than cozying up with a warm bowl of noodles. Whether you’re after a rich tonkotsu broth, flavourful miso, or a new twist on ramen, you’ll find it right here in Yonge North York.
